Beckie S. Butcher, At a Glance

Miss Butcher harbored an interest in medical science for most of her life and decided to pursue a career in the field. Today, she has garnered years of experience in the industry, and draws on her past medical positions to write and publish books. Her work has not only enabled her to help doctors help their patients, but it has also enabled her to help others through writing about a serious illness, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Miss Butcher worked as a phlebotomist, courier and laboratory technician for 20 years. Partnering with two other women, she started a cooking group through her church called Hosanna! Chefs. Six of Miss Butcher's recipes have been published in Gooseberry Patch cookbooks. Her cookbook, “Feeding The Flock” also garnered attention in her hometown newspaper, The Elgin Courier News.

In March of 2012, she also published a book telling her story of her experience with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome entitled, "My Battle with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.” She tells the intense journey from the first symptoms to her physical, spiritual and emotional recovery. Through her book, she hopes to reach out and let people know there is hope as well as help out there. Sufferers need not always suffer and can lead a better quality of life. In June 2012, the book was listed as No. 5 on Amazon’s Medical Best Sellers List.

Miss Butcher earned an Associate of Applied Science in medical laboratory technology at Elgin Community College and is a certified medical laboratory technician through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.

Miss Butcher is a former field editor at Taste of Home Magazine, a life member and former product tester for the Cooking Club of America, and a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
